A Code Book of Ji Men Dun-jia
“Ji Men Dun-jia” 奇門遁甲 (or people called it “Qi Men Dun-jia”) used to be a very complicated subjects in Chinese Metaphysics as it consists of as much as 4,320 different settings at the time when it was first introduced some 4,700 years ago during the war between Emperor Xuan-yuan 軒轅黃帝 and Chi-you 蚩尤. As with the other two oldest Chinese Metaphysics namely “Liu Ren” 六壬 and “Tai Yi” 太乙, JMDJ also requires thorough understand of Chinese ancient astronomy.
The title of the rhymed folk song “An Old Fisherman by the Misty Riverside” 《煙波釣叟賦》 refers to JIANG Shang 姜尚 (1128BCE to 1015BCE), a military counselor of King Wen of Zhou 周文王, but the Folk Song itself described the details of JMDJ setting as well as some of the deciphering rules. As such, it is perceived that JMDJ is the divine tools for war and battle. It is believed that JIANG made significant contribution to JMDJ by reducing the setting down to only 72 major settings. The settings were further simplified to a total of 18 primary settings by ZHANG Liang 張良, again another military adviser for the first Emperor of the Han 漢 Dynasty.
This Rhymed Folk Song is believed to be written by ZHAO Pu 趙普, the Prime Minister and the Military Counselor of the first emperor of Song 宋 Dynasty (960CE to 1279CE). Based upon his experience in practicing JMDJ, ZHAO summarized the rules of setting and deciphering into a rhymed folk song of 216 verses for easy memorizing.
“The Interpretation of an Ancient Rhymed Folk Song titled ‘An Old Fisherman by the Misty Riverside’” tells the untold secret by revealing its fundamental principles in ancient astronomy and calendar. It also covers 1,080 settings derived from ZHANG’s 18 primary settings. Also Included is an ancient JMDJ article titled “The Classic of Yin-fu by the Emperor” 《黃帝陰符經》.
